Summer is officially here! Named after the historical Roman statesman Julius Caesar, there\u2019s a lot going on this month: In the U.S., July marks National Grilling, Hot Dog, Ice Cream and Picnic Month<\/strong>. With so many delicious sales opportunities, online shoppers are spoiled for choice. We\u2019ll walk you through some of July\u2019s most significant dates<\/strong> (Hello, July 4th<\/sup>!<\/em>) and the products people might be on the lookout for.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Independence Day is the birthday celebration of the United States of America the way we know it today.<\/p>\n It commemorates America\u2019s independence from Britain<\/strong>, declaring the U.S. as a free country. On July 4, 1776<\/strong>, the Continental Congress passed the Declaration of Independence of the \u2013 at the time \u2013 13 North American colonies from Great Britain.<\/p>\n As a major midsummer U.S. holiday, Independence Day is all about parades, fireworks, concerts and barbecues. Popular d\u00e9cor products to mark the occasion include American flags and banners. When it comes to party foods, you\u2019ll want to make sure to get some hot dogs, burgers, corn on the cob, watermelon and potato salad ready to enjoy.<\/p>\n You may hear patriotic songs<\/strong> at 4th<\/sup> of July parties or concerts, such as \u201cAmerica the Beautiful\u201d <\/strong>and \u201cThis Land is Your Land\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Similarly to the U.S., the French have their own Independence Day<\/strong> (la f\u00eate nationale<\/em>) every year on July 14th<\/sup><\/strong>. France\u2019s Independence Day is also known as \u201cBastille Day\u201d. The Bastille was a medieval fortress used as a state prison that represented the harsh rule of the Bourbon monarchy. On July 14, 1789, a mob of French rebels stormed the Bastille and started the French Revolution. In 1880, Bastille Day became an official holiday in France<\/strong>.<\/p>\n To this day, people in France chant \u201cVive le 14 juillet!\u201d<\/strong> (\u201cLong live the 14th of July!\u201d)<\/em> at celebratory military parades and speeches.<\/p>\n Fun fact<\/strong>: Not only France celebrates this day, but also some former French colonies, such as French Polynesia.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Considering how much there is to celebrate in July, it makes perfect sense that party products are in high demand this time of year \u2013 that plus the hot weather, of course!<\/p>\nHolidays<\/h2>\n
